MEXICO BAPTIST CHURCH WMU ORGANIZATIONS

Mission Friends is the WMU missions organization for preschoolers, ages 2  through kindergarten.  Mission Friends offers preschoolers fun and engaging learning experiences to begin understanding missions concepts and attitudes.  Mission Friends provides missions learning to:

Help preschoolers move from a focus of self-centeredness to a focus on others.  Help preschoolers be aware that God wants everyone to know of His love, but not everyone knows of God's love. Lead preschoolers and their parents or caregivers in ways they can help others know of God's love. MF meets every Wednesday night.

Do you want girls to get excited about missions? Then GA ‘s is the group for them.  Girls in Action is the WMU ministry organization for girls in grades 1 through 6.  GA members are actively involved in learning about missions, praying for and giving to missions, and actually doing missions themselves. These groups help girls in our church begin to develop spiritually towards a missions lifestyle as they learn what God is doing in the world and discover their place in Gods plan.  GA meets every Wednesday night.

Acteens is the WMU ministry organization for girls in grades 7 through 12.  Through Acteens, teenage girls can have opportunities to grow in their relationships with God and their peers.  Acteens learn to look beyond themselves and become actively involved in missions and ministry.  Missions is at the heart of Acteens, and members explore and do hands-on missions in their communities and beyond.  Acteens are also actively involved in learning about missions and praying for and giving to missions.  Acteens meet every Family missions night (third Wed. night of the month).

The Baptist Young Women’s group is a very diverse group of women; we range from women just going to college to

women who have several kids already. To catch all of us you‘re going to need a long rope. With half of us at college,

some at work, and the rest with small children, we have to vary the times that we meet. Most usually we meet once a

month at 6:00 pm on a Monday or Thursday night at one of our homes. Meeting at each others homes has really worked

good for our group. It is a very relaxed atmosphere where we can get to know each other and really share our concerns

and prayer requests . And, it’s fun too! Cause we get to eat!!!!   But there is always business to be conducted, lessons,

events coming up at church, and of course our mission projects. Our meeting dates are usually in the bulletin.  Or you can

ask one of us, we would be glad to pick you up.  If you are a lady out there who wants one of the closest groups of friends

you can find, then you need to come be part of our group.

We are the Lydia Group(named after Lydia in the Bible-Acts 16:13-15).  We meet the first Tuesday of each month in various members’ homes. Ours is a varied and inclusive group.  We have no specific age range.  We are women at many different stages in our lives.  Some of us are married, some single, some divorced, some widows, some dating, some engaged.  Some of us are moms,  some of us are not. Some of us have children who are preschoolers, elementary, middle school, high school , college age or young adult children.  Some of us are caring for aged parents, some of us have healthy parents, some of us no longer have parents.  Some of us work, some stay at home and some of us are retired.  Some of us are members of Mexico Baptist Church and some of us are not.  Some of us are quiet, and yes, some of us are not!

But all of us want to serve God by serving others. All of us enjoy learning about, praying and giving to missions.  Because of the variety of life stages of the women God has blessed our group with, when one of us needs support in some area, there is almost always someone who has been where we are now, to provide us with an encouraging word, a shared experience, a promise of prayer.  If you recognize your self in ‘who we are’---or if you don’t—and if you do not regularly attend a mission group, please give us a visit!!!!!!

Mexico Baptist Dorcas group is alive and well.  Our group is made up mostly of the first baby boomers but any and all are always welcome to join us.   We meet on the third Wed. night (missions night) of the month here at the church.  We enjoy the fellowship of extra outings every few months and our meetings are always interesting and informative.

The Baptist Women’s group. This is where it all started!  We are decedents from the original group organized in 1930 with 14 members.  We meet on Family Missions Night (third Wednesday of the month) here at church. We are always faithful in our mission lessons and mission projects.  Mission leaders and teachers have come from our group, always with the goal of promoting missions at Mexico Baptist Church.  We hope that as the years pass, our  daughters and granddaughters will carry on what we have continued.
